Fre$h, formerly known as Short Dawg of Young Money and prominently featured on Lil Wayne’s emotional mixtape-era track “Me and My Drank,” has written hits for Ty Dolla $ign, Snoop Dogg, and more since his split from the label. For his newest single, “Petty,” which premieres on The FADER today, the Houston native has teamed up with 2 Chainz and 50 Cent for an ode to spitefulness.
The Houston artist formerly known as Short Dawg just dropped a new track, featuring veterans 50 Cent & 2 Chainz. Fre$h tells that the song was inspired by “necessary pettiness,” and the chorus makes that apparent, presenting a series of scenarios in which pettiness is clearly the best response. This is the second 50 Cent feature to drop today, and this time he lays down a full sixteen instead before 2 Chainz finishes things off. The production is ice cold, with a reversed synth loop and some distorted drum drops.
